by: Howard S. Becker
Drawing on more than four decades of experience as a researcher and teacher, Howard Becker now brings to students and researchers the many valuable techniques he has learned. The tricks cover four broad areas of social science: the creation of the "imagery" to guide research; methods of "sampling" to generate maximum variety in the data; the development of "concepts" to organize findings; and the use of "logical" methods to explore systematically the implications of what is found.

Mortimer and Sathre have gone beyond a discussion of faculty/administrative behavior by focusing on what happens when the legitimate governance claims of faculty, trustees, and presidents clash. They place these relationships in the broader context of internal institutional governance and analyze the dynamics that unfold when advocacy trumps collegiality.

Why dressage? Why classical riding? Why training horses?
Get your FREE eBook at www.academic-art-of-riding.com Welcome to Riding Academy. The topic of this video is Why dressage? Dressage is a mean to improve the horse physically and mentally. The centuries old tradition of classical dressage provides a systematic method of schooling the horse to make him pleasant to ride and to prolong his useful working life. Another facet of dressage is the focus on harmony between horse and rider. And dressage is about beauty and about art. Many dressage movements look like dances, with the horse and rider totally in synchrony with each other. He will then be convinced that Mother Nature has endowed the young horse with everything that he has seen in well trained dressage horses. In its games, the young colt will display quite a number of the higher-level movements from a passage to airs above ...
